Stadium Lighting
Bright idea
It should come as no surprise to anyone that Joe loves his LED lights. He is a crusader against all things fluorescent, halogen, or incandescent. He will try to upgrade your home’s lighting if you let him. He’ll do it. For fun. He is so committed to the cause that he mass orders LED lights from China on a regular basis.
A Shelf Shelter
Some people bring home stray pets.
Others bring home stray shelves… Wait, what? Only my boyfriend, apparently. Now that I think about it, there are many refurbished pieces of furniture around the house. I wish I had taken pictures of all our shelves, but here are the latest and greatest.
Moral of the story
There are plenty of unwanted shelves out there, so rescue one from your local goodwill or salvation army today. We have fostered quite a few in recent months, and it all started with this one:
Fall on the Wall
Bathroom Remodel
Tiling and Painting
Since we did the dual shower heads, we decided to extend Project Bathroom Renovation. Come check it out!
Enter if you dare
We noticed some mold spots starting to come through the paint in the shower, so we took the chance to do our first ever tiling job. The previous homeowners had only an eggshell paint in the bathroom, which was just asking for mold spores.
Memories for the Mantle – Phase 2
Welcome to Phase 2 of Operation Mantle Magic
With the heavy lifting done in Phase 1, it was time to transform this log into a mantlepiece. Santa will be so happy we made this just for him!
Memories for the Mantle – Phase 1
Shower in the Rain
“It’s like being under a waterfall in your bathroom!”
That’s what our new best friend at Menards said when he helped us with this project. He had a cool blue tape measure so we knew he was a good guy. Here’s what we walked in with – straight out of Joe’s head.
Dirty Laundry
Move over, clean clothes! Easy access hamper is moving in.
We may have underestimated this project. What started as a quick little idea ended up taking a few hours. A lot of tweaking was involved. But it turned out great, so it was all worth it! The closet between the upstairs bathroom and bedroom was only half useful. The top half holds towels, but the bottom was becoming a junk collection for light bulbs and small spare parts. And board games we never play. We tried playing Monopoly once… that’s a whole other story… So Joe ripped out the shelves and rigged up this! Not too bad, eh? Here’s how it started:
