This project goes down in the books as not a Pinterest fail! In fact, we love the finished product. It was an overall inexpensive, quick and EASY fix for our quirky little kitchen. I’ll tell you some of the tips I learned and show you my stenciling technique below. I’ll also share what to consider before stenciling your own floor, along with some before-and-after pics.
So here’s the dilemma. We have an eye sore of a floor in the kitchen. And that’s the next big room on our project bucket list. But the entire kitchen overhaul might not happen for awhile, so I’m hoping to paint the floor to make it work in the meantime. I have everything – the paint, stencil, rollers and sealer. But I’m completely torn between two paint options.
No weaving required! In fact, you won’t even need a sewing machine or thread and needle for this one. This little hack is sure to add some eye candy to your walls.
Getting creative with our fake ceiling beams, we wanted to find a way to make them look more like the real deal. So we engineered some metal straps/brackets out of cleats. We’re so happy with the outcome, and even more happy to say the ceiling beams are totally complete. Function meets fashion all the way. Who’s mostly excited for the food on Super Bowl Sunday, raise your hand? Me too. I mean, I love being with friends and I love the commercials, but let’s be honest: It’s all about the food. We in Minnesota will never see our team in a championship game, so I really don’t care who wins. (Actually that’s a lie; I cheer for whoever is the underdog). If you’re looking for a fun and easy themed treat, here’s a great last minute recipe for you.
Before the holidays, we left you with a sneak peek of the start of our movie room remodel. Probably not the ideal time to dive into a remodel, but we made it work! We’re now pleased to say we’re nearly finished and have been fully enjoying the new space. Where we left off, we showed you the barn door addition. That was really our launching off point into this room. From there, we tackled the walls and the floor. I’ll walk you through some of our design choices and the whole DIY process.

I promise we’ll stop with the signs after Christmas, but for now we’re in full craft mode. And we’ve got plenty of basement movie room updates on the way, so hang tight.

Here’s a third batch of signs I’ve made leading up to the craft show. We’ve made up a bunch of different wood treatments like you see above, so I have plenty of “canvas” options to choose from. I’m having wayyy too much fun making these. Definitely my new favorite hobby and mode of relaxation.
