Maybe you’ve noticed we’ve been pretty quiet all year. There are a few reasons for this, but I think we’re finally ready to share some big news about a new addition to our little home.
Adding On
Literally, that’s the news. We are building an addition to our house! It’s been a long rollercoaster of a process, but we can now confidently say it’s happening. Almost a year ago already, we were struck by some misfortune in the form of an F1 tornado casually hurling a large tree into our roof. We fully planned to get the repairs done, but upon further inspection, discovered the damage was worse than everyone thought and learned we’d basically need a whole new roof. Which got us thinking… If we have to take the roof off anyway, why not build up a level?
What started as a dream (more like a joke) is now about to become reality. And we are so excited! And anxious. It feels like a phantom limb, this space above us. It hasn’t really sunk in yet, but it’s about to get real, real quick. Making lemonade out of those lemons.
Getting Started
It’s been a slow march to the starting line and we wanted to get all our ducks in a row before getting our hopes up/jinxing the whole thing. Things are falling into place and it’s time to share the journey. We’ve already learned so much, and have so much yet to learn. I’m sure there will be more ups and downs, but we hope you’ll stick around for the wild ride ahead!

Home renovations can be so hard! There are just always so many moving parts! But I always have to remind myself… It gets worse before it gets better.
Yes, it’s so true! Thanks for the reminder and the encouragement. (Currently sleeping on our mattress on the living room floor.) Knowing it will be worth it in the end though!
