Joe and I are working together for the first time (outside our own house) on a bathroom remodel. He’s done a handful of bathroom projects now, so I thought I’d lend a hand and get in on the action. He affectionately refers to me as his Project Manager. Which has quickly escalated to having allll the design ideas.
Things are nearing completion out at the ol’ ice shack. There hasn’t been much of a bite so far, but they have since moved the house to a new, secret location. Hopefully they’ll have better luck if it warms up a tad. At least they’ve been having a good time!
There are only a few glorious weeks of good ice where we bundle up and travel into the magical no-man’s land that is a frozen lake. Drop a line down a hole and sit around with your palls in the frozen tundra. Ahh January in Minnesota: it’s officially ice fishing season.
If I had to sum up 2017 in one word, it would be fast. It went by sofast. But that is not my word of the year… Each year, I take a pause and reflect on the year behind, and set my intentions for the year ahead by choosing a word. Here’s my word for 2018 and a personal reflection.
Some years we go a little overboard. Other years we keep it simple. I enjoy all forms of holiday cheer, but this year is quite a different one for us.

Ahh, it seems like only yesterday we were two youngsters on a mission to renovate our basement bathroom, knocking out walls and digging plumbing. Almost two years ago already. Joe is reliving the good ol’ days, using his experience to help a friend with a similar shower. I guess you know who to call for any shower projects from now on!
We scored another plant grant this year and brought home a couple new trees and a whole bunch of plants. Here’s our haul!
I know I’m late to the game, but I festivized my front porch just in time for Halloween. I didn’t put much effort into it, but started putting things out that looked fallish, one by one. Not even sure how that firewood got there… I kinda like our house colors, this time of year at least!
The time has come to plan your Halloween costume! Or if you’re like me, you’ve been putting it together since the summer. I always like to keep it a surprise every year, so you’ll just have to wait until next year to see our 2017 Halloween outfits. But here’s our last year’s costume!
